Unlike sailing yachts, fuel is a significant expense for motor yachts. Fuel costs are **never included** in the base charter fee. They are covered by the **Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA)**, which is typically 30–40% of the charter price. The captain tracks consumption, and you settle the actual cost at the end of the trip (with any remaining APA funds being returned).
Are motor yacht charters typically bareboat or crewed?
The vast majority of luxury motor yacht charters are **fully crewed** (with a professional captain, chef, and deckhand). Due to their complexity, size, and insurance requirements, bareboat (self-charter) options are extremely limited and usually only available for smaller models. We will always confirm the required crew minimums during the booking process.
Can a motor yacht handle long distances quickly?
Yes, motor yachts are designed for **speed and swift passage**, allowing you to cover greater distances in less time than a sailing yacht. This gives you maximum flexibility to explore multiple destinations within a week. However, higher speed directly correlates with **higher fuel consumption**, which will impact your APA usage.

The APA is a required sum, usually **30-40% of the charter fee**, paid in advance.
