The volume of blue cruise sector in Turkey was close to 350 million euros

With the reshaping of holiday plans during the pandemic process, the concept of safe holiday for domestic and foreign guests came to the fore.

While the corona virus effects were still continuing, there were changes in the vacation planning of tourists. This situation has highlighted the concept of safe holiday and hence yacht charter vacation. Thanks to the "blue voyage is a safe holiday" advertisements that appeared in press and newspapers from time to time, this concept showed great interest among local tourists. General manager of Ada Yacht, which is serving in the travel and blue cruise sector in Turkey, Inanc Aribal, "even in the busiest days of the pandemic, the demand was vastly increased for alternative vacation concept. Yacht charter vacation, known as an isolated vacation, has become very popular. Most of the local tourists had a blue cruise experience for the first time this year. The volume of blue voyage sector in Turkey has already exceeded 300 million euros. We estimate that the total income related to the sea holiday reaches 1 billion Euros”.

It covers 60% of the boats with a Yacht Management certificate

Aribal, "Turkey is surrounded by seas on three sides, and thanks to the geological structure of our bay, we'd be extremely advantageous for yacht charters. The ratio of total tourism revenues of around 20% in marine tourism in Turkey. We are in favor of taking this situation into consideration and increasing the market with more accurate investments. During this period, despite everything, the growth rate of the sector is promising. Considering the number of guests, we host, although there is a fairly high rate of domestic tourists, this is promising for the coming years. As Ada Yachting, we anticipate closing the 2020 season with 55% growth compared to the previous season. Although October has arrived, our boats are still touring the bays. There are approximately 2,000 Turkish or foreign flagged commercial boats in the market with ministry yacht management license. In our current system, we, as a company, work with 55% of these boats. Our forecast for 2021 is that the number of boats will be around 2,500”.

"We intend to market all kinds of vehicles that can sail on the sea"

Commenting on the yacht charter industry, Arıbal said, “Generally, all boats are scattered in this market and standards are very variable. What we are trying to do is gather all boats on one platform and bring them to certain standards. If we can achieve this, we will have come a long way in increasing the potential of quality foreign tourists. Foreign tourists look for certain standards. In the future, our aim will be to be able to market it to customers, even if there is a vehicle that can sail on the sea. We plan to increase the number of leasable products and provide different experiences to customers with the experience we will gain here."
